Fifth Fair of the seeds exchange in Šibenik-Knin County

This is to invite to participate at the fifth Fair of the seeds exchange in Šibenik-Knin County. The fair will take place on 26.8.2023 (Saturday), as off u 08:30 h at the City library in Vodice: address: Obala Vladimira Nazora 4, organized by Ecological Association “Krka” Knin
Project “ Fair of the seeds exchange in Vodice”, financed by the Šibenik-Knin County, is educational a day lasting fair of the exchange of the autochthonous and introduced seeds (vegetable, fruit, flowers, medicinal and aromatic plants). Besides the exchange of the seeds among those who bring them, the rest of the materials will be distributed to the visitors free of charge. Expert lectures on the topics: Lectures on permaculture and regenerative agriculture, Protection of the old varieties of seeds and bio diversity in the gardens, will take place as well. Thematic workshops : “How to collect vegetable seeds?” , “From the seeds to the table” and creation of the aromatic salts are also organized.
The aims of the project are the exchange of the seeds, expansion and conservation of vegetable, fruit and the other medical and aromatic verities at the area of Šibenik-Knin County; introduction of the population to the ways of cultivation of biodiversity in the gardens and to make the familiar with terms of permaculture and regenerative agriculture.
Another purpose of the project is increasing of the awareness of the importance the seeds conservation and agriculture itself.
The first Fair of the seeds exchange took place in 2019 in Knin. The idea is to organize it each year in different town/municipality of Šibenik-Knin County, the second one took place in 2020 in Šibenik, the third one in the municipality of Promina in Lukar in 2021 and the forth one in Drniš in 2022. This is how the tradition has continued.
All the events are opened and free of charge for the public
Program of the fifth Fair is as follows:
• Workshop “How to collect vegetable seeds?” – Antonija Mihaljević; 08:30 – 09:30h.
• Expert lecture on the topic “Permaculture and regenerative agriculture” - Hrvoje Bota - Održivo d.o.o. from Splita; 9:30 – 10:15h.
• Expert lecture on the topic “From the seeds to the table” - Ivana Bota - Održivo d.o.o. from Splita; 10:15 – 11:00h.
• Expert lecture on the topic “Conservation of the old varieties and bio diversity in the garden” - Silvija Kolar–Fodor - association "Biovrt –in harmony with nature“; 11:00 – 12:00h.
• Workshop “Creation of the aromatic salts” Ecological Association „Krka“ Knin; 12:00-13:00

About the lecturers
Antonija Mihaljević is graduate economist for management and tourism. She is connected to the earth throughout her life actively dealing with food production since 2015. She is passionate collector of the old seeds. In 2019 she has attended 72 hours of the course on permaculture design. She is active member of the association “Permaculture Dalmatia” which aims to spread the knowledge about the principles of the work with the earth.
Hrvoje Bota has a degree in architectural engineering and is the owner of the social enterprise "Sustainable" d.o.o. – office for permaculture design, architectural design and urban planning. The company is focused on socially and environmentally conscientious business and designing the living environment. Through more than 10 years of active work in architectural design and spatial and urban planning, Bota has gathered a series of knowledge and skills necessary to run a professional, high-quality and innovative design office. Building an interest in socially and environmentally oriented design, he masters the tools of sustainable design, which he applies in the creation of architectural and urban projects as well as permaculture design projects.
Ivana Bota is a law graduate with experience working in a law office (which she quickly realized did not fit into her life path). In recent years, she has been employed at Održivo d.o.o. , gardener, seed worker active as a seed keeper in the association ZMAG, graduate make-up artist, cook (with a diploma in macrobiotic cooking) who has been holding workshops on healthy Mediterranean nutrition for 5 years... wife and mother of three children.
Silvija Kolar–Fodor is an author, organic gardener and activist. As a great lover of nature, she is dedicated to education about living in harmony with nature. She is the winner of the prestigious Croatian Women's Network award "Croatian Women of Influence 2020" in the field of leadership and innovation, and the National Geographic award "Yellow Framework for Sustainable Development, Science and Education for 2020" in category 2: Eradication of hunger.
She is the author of the book "Gardening in harmony with nature" and the educational portal www.biovrt.com, and has collaborated as a columnist with numerous magazines and portals.
She is the president of the association "Biovrt - in harmony with nature" as part of which she conducts education throughout the Republic of Croatia, designs and leads various projects with which she starts school gardens in Međimurje and introduces educational programs in schools about organic gardening, sustainable development and living in harmony with nature.
She is the keeper of numerous ancient seed varieties and protects them from extinction for future generations. On his estate, he constantly tries out new ideas and techniques of organic farming, and regularly writes and inspires numerous followers on social networks. He has been engaged in organic gardening since 2006.

If you cannot attend the Fair, you can hand over all the seeds to the office of the association at Tvrtkova 3, Knin - on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join us so that this useful project becomes and remains traditional.
Each Fair participant will receive a packet of seeds as a gift, and the seed exhibitors will be rewarded with a book by Silvija Kolar-Fodor entitled "Gardening in harmony with nature".
